Identification and description of the antennal sensilla of Liogenys suturalis (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae)

ABSTRACT Species of the scarab beetle genus Liogenys are potential pests to several crops in Brazil. This study aimed describe antennal sensilla suturalis (Blanchard, 1851). Adults were collected a pasture area Balsamo, Sao Paulo state, Brazil, using light trap. The antennae dissected and images obtained scanning electron microscope. Sensilla ampulacea (pores), s. auricilica, basiconica, placodea, trichodea present lamellae. antenna females have 4399 sensilla, which 3671 (83.5%) 422 (9.5%) coeloconica, 306 (6.9%) auricilica. males 4039 3117 (77.1%) 353 (8.7%) 569 (14.1%) been described for first time.
